WHAT'S NEW - 2014 HIGHLIGHTS
- Nature Geoscience Article on ODS
An article was published on 9 March 2022 in Nature Geoscience on "Newly detected ozone depleting substances in the atmosphere". The article, written by reputable scientists, has identified 3 CFCs (CFC-112, CFC-112a, and CFC-113a) and 1 HCFC (HCFC-133a) to have grown in concentration in the atmosphere, with CFC-113a and HCFC-133a still growing considerably. Those substances are controlled under the Montreal Protocol. The article has been sent to the Scientific Assessment Panel (SAP) and the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel (TEAP) of the Montreal Protocol for their review and subsequent consideration by the Parties.
